“High-tech entrepreneur Michael Cowpland will re-enter the
business world as the head of an Ottawa-based company that will
develop applications for wireless devices based on the Linux
operating system.”

“The company is still in the embryonic stages, the Financial
Post has learned, but it will likely be launched early next year.
Dr. Cowpland is working with Ottawa-based Zim Technologies
International Inc. in developing the technology which he expects to
spin-off into a separate business early next year. Dr. Cowpland is
an investor in Zim and acts as a technology advisor to the
company….”

“The technology will bridge the gap between personalized Web
portals and text-based wireless devices that are now being used by
consumers to access the Web. Those devices do not adequately allow
acceptable Internet access, Mr. Eid said, but he expects the
technology will develop over the next two years.”
