comments just after Michael Cowpland, president and CEO of Corel,
led a packed booth in a countdown to unveil the company’s newest
product, Corel Linux OS.”

“Corel is hoping the latest operating system can help reverse
its fortunes, which have plummeted in recent years in the face of
the Microsoft Office juggernaut. Corel Linux OS, which is touted as
the most user-friendly Linux version yet, is shipping to
distributors now and will be in stores by the end of November,
according to Cowpland.”

“Across the aisle, VA Linux Systems was showing off a variety of
software titles being written for the platform. The company, which
builds Linux servers, announced on Monday its largest contract to
date; to supply 256 servers to a U.S. Department of Energy
Lab.”
