“Heise Online has published a story on this topic at http://www.heise.de/newsticker/data/hps-19.05.00-000/
(in German).

The German Department of Economy BMWi (http://www.bmwi.de/) wants to promote the
use of Open Source Software in small and medium sized companies as
well as in the public administration.
They will publish a
brochure with practical examples how to implement OSS.

They are also planning an Open Source Mediator like Sourceforge.
The research center for Open Communikation Systems FOKUS (http://www.fokus.gmd.de/) of the
German National Research Centre for Information Technology GMD will
go on-line within some months with their BerliOS project (http://www.berlios.de/). At http://www.fokus.gmd.de/news/content.html
you can find a link to the FOKUS newsletter number 1 of Februari
2000 in PDF format, which contains a short description of the
project. The webpages referred in this paragraph are written in
English.”
