The donation was made by an anonymous person, though the money will be received by the GNOME Foundation over the next couple of years. Honored by this gesture, the team pledges to use the money to hire more developers and streamline their operations to improve the GNOME desktop environment. In the coming weeks, the GNOME Foundation will release more details about this generous donation, along with more information on how they plan to invest the $1,000,000. However, donations don’t stop here, as the project hopes to see more generous donations in the years to come.
