“On [October 6, 2004] the Belgian Government published a white
paper on the use of open standards by federal public bodies.“The new white paper, published by the Belgian Federal Public
Service ICT (FEDICT), presents a number of directives and
recommendations for the use of open standards and open
specifications by federal public bodies. The paper aims at
supporting a better integration of federal back-offices by
promoting the interoperability of their information systems.
Ultimately, the paper says, the use of open standards should also
facilitate the exchange of electronic information with citizens and
businesses…”
