“The company is postponing plans to deliver its enterprise
resource planning (ERP) applications for the Linux platform until
the end of this year and early 2000.
A year ago, the company
said it would ship its Oracle Applications suite for Linux in the
first quarter of 1999, the same time frame as its databases and Web
tools.

“However, customers told Oracle they wanted a Linux version of
the forthcoming Oracle Applications 11i suite rather than earlier
versions, a company representative said last week.

“Therefore, as soon as 11i ships, by the end of 1999, the
company will freeze its code and start porting it to the Linux
platform, the representative said. The Linux version will be
available 30 days later.”
