“Perhaps the major theme that came through from the Bloor
Research Open Source Event last week was the ‘maturity factor’ that
accompanies the Open Source proposition. Here’s a summary of some
of the points that emerged. An Open Source product is, as products
go, different from other software products in only a few ways:

  • “The Source is freely available.
  • “The license fee is low (possibly non-existent) and the
    software license itself is likely to restrict the further use of
    the source code in some way…”
