“Openwave sees Linux as a catalyst for its business in helping
drive market share from its current approximate 50 percent to an
even higher number. Ideally, it will grow market share as Linux
expands its own share of operating system-based phones. Nokia,
which makes two-thirds of the world’s phone handsets, is an
Openwave customer in the CDMA space; Nokia wants to deliver its
functionality in house and demonstrate good software capabilities.
Even though in some ways Nokia is a competitor, Openwave would like
to retain Nokia as a customer as the Finnish handset maker turns
more toward Linux…”
