“Soon after Linux-friendly Lenovo’s takeover of IBM’s PC
business, there was a more silent and peculiar move: HP’s
announcement of a low-price Pavilion desktop computer for the
Chinese market, which represents huge potential sales.

“What was somewhat strange about the announcement was that HP, a
strong Linux supporter but struggling in the Chinese market, would
ship the budget PC not with Linux, not with Windows XP, but with
the FreeDOS operating system installed…”
