“IT salary levels clearly face challenges created by the
economic downturn. Unfortunately, IT salary raises have been
minimal or none at all. According to Janco Associates, an
IT-focused consulting firm that conducts annual IT salary surveys,
“there is now a surplus of seasoned IT professionals” – hence
the ceiling on IT salary increases.

“More findings from Janco relating to 2010 IT salary:

“• Layoffs have focused on middle management and IT
support staff.

“• Many mid-sized enterprises have stopped hiring all IT
professionals altogether.

“• IT hiring is limited to a few selected positions as
enterprise continue to cut costs.
