“Atipa Linux Solutions, a Kansas City computer company that
received more than $30 million in venture capital last February,
has laid off three-quarters of its staff in recent months. The most
recent cutbacks came Friday, when the company laid off nine
technicians.”

“Atipa executives are restructuring the company and studying
several alternatives to either sell or merge Atipa with another
company, said Darrek Porter, director of corporate
communications.”

“Atipa opened in Kansas City in 1999 to build and sell servers
and workstations using the Linux operating system. However, the
company no longer thinks it can succeed in that market, Porter
said.”
