Linux and Main: Metrowerks Expected to Announce Purchase of Lineo

“Metrowerks, the Motorola subsidiary, is expected to announce
that it is acquiring the embedded Linux company Lineo.

“The announcement could come as soon as Friday, according to
persons involved with the companies.

“Metrowerks is already a substantial shareholder in Utah-based
Lineo, itself a spinoff of Caldera, Inc., now the SCO Group.

“Details of the acquisition could not be determined, but persons
familiar with both companies say a round of layoffs at Lineo has
already begun…”
