“Deepak Saxena…is the founder of the Linux Demo Day project,
whose purpose is to plan a day of worldwide demonstration of Linux
and the GNU system.”

“Linux.com: What is the primary purpose of the Linux Demo Day
project? Do you think that the first try succeeded in its essential
goals?”

“Deepak Saxena: The primary purpose of the Linux Demo Day (LDD)
project is to coordinate a worldwide Linux advocacy/education
event. Basically the idea was to get as many LUGs [Linux User
Groups] around the world to put together some sort of Linux event
during the project time frame.

“I believe that the project was extremely succesful. We had over
150 LUGs from throughout the world participating and several of
them held very large events. We reached many potential Linux users
in the proccess. In addition, the project helped several startup
LUGs get up and running by having an event to work around.”
