Model rocket will use real Windows 2000 CD-ROMS for
fins and will descend after launch on a blue
parachute.
The Silicon Valley Linux User Group (SVLUG) will launch a model rocket using
real Windows 2000 CD-ROMS for fins on Sunday, February 13.
The event, dubbed “Launch Win2K”, will take place at 2:00 PM PST
at the BayNAR rocket club’s launch at DeAnza College, Parking Lot
B, in Cupertino, California, in the heart of Silicon Valley.
An informal press conference will precede the launch from 2:00
to 2:30 PM.
According to the event Web site, the
Windows 2000 CD-ROM fins will stabilize the flight of the
rocket.
In a further gesture of support for Windows 2000, the rocket
will descend back to earth using a blue parachute to symbolize the
Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) made famous by Windows 2000’s
predecessor Windows NT 4.0.
