“When considering to opt for open source or Linux operating
system, the final decision should be based on consumers’ needs for
the computer itself.

“According to United Nations Development Program’s Asia-Pacific
Open Source Network consultant Kenneth Wong, open source software
offers greater flexibility, functionality or cost-benefit ratios
for some people, while in other cases, traditional proprietary
software such as Microsoft’s Windows provides better functionality.
He says if one is using a computer for e-mailing, Web browsing and
basic word processing, then either system should be a good
option…”
