“A new player in the professional services division washed
up at Stormix, aimed at bumping its technical offerings to small
and mid-sized businesses from simple support to full IT
solutions.“
“We were approached to provide services before a division was
created,” said Jason Fowler, manager of professional services at
Stormix. “It makes sense that a company that created a Linux
distribution provide professional services – there is a need that
businesses perceive to hire services from a company who knows the
`ins and outs’ of Linux and can integrate Linux within an existing
network architecture.”
“Fowler recommends the expansion into professional services as a
way to promote Linux use in business. “Many companies already use
Linux in their IT departments,” Fowler said. “[These businesses]
include securities firms, lawyers, bio-techs, and insurance. The
issues of Linux in business are the same as any other operating
system (OS): people and documentation. We provide both.”
