“Intel’s e-Business Forum was held in Sydney on Tuesday 14
November and was promoted as a showcase of e-business success
stories for the Intel platform. The event was not without Linux
input, with Mark White, vice president and general manager of Red
Hat Asia Pacific, giving a talk on how Red Hat Linux and open
source software in general is being used to create successful
e-business ventures.”

“The forum began with a presentation by Christian Morales, vice
president and general manager of Intel Australia, entitled
“Strategy for the Surge Economy”. This talk outlined the demands
being made on the Internet economy and how Australia is positioned
from that perspective. The presentation then concluded with an
overview of e-business strategies and the benefits of running them
on an open architecture….”

“When asked about the reluctance of many companies to implement
open source software solutions, White replied, “Education will be
always be the key to changing people’s minds about adopting new
technologies, that is why we are releasing a demo solutions CD. The
open source model is best for infrastructure control and bringing
value.”
