“Confirming the hype, small pockets of desktop Linux deployments
exist in Australian enterprises, according to research conducted by
S2 Intelligence.

“Responses to an email survey in latter part of March suggests
about 3 per cent of large Australian enterprises have rolled out
desktop Linux…

“Only two of the respondents reported installations of more than
50 units–one being approximately 200 units and the other 100.

“The survey also sought to identify the likelihood of Australian
organisations deploying Linux and StarOffice/OpenOffice on any
scale within the next two years…”
