NewsFactor: Lindows Makes Offline Retail Debut

“With its recently announced reseller program, Lindows is
attempting to make further inroads into the desktop market.

“‘Anybody that resells product can now take our product and
resell it in their own environment, and they get preferential
pricing,’ Schwarzman said. ‘Prior to this, if you wanted to resell
it, you would pay the regular price that any other consumer would
pay. So the software will now have its own venue…’

“IDC analyst Al Gillen told NewsFactor that he expects Linux’
share of the desktop OS market, currently 2 percent, will not grow
beyond 5 percent through 2006…”
