“The first day of this year’s LinuxWorld Conference & Expo
Toronto started off with its traditional two three-hour long
tutorials. From the provided list, I selected ‘The Open Source
Security Tool Arena,’ presented by Tony Howlett for the morning,
and Dee-Ann LeBlanc’s ‘Hit the Ground Running: Red Hat
Certifications Preparatory’ in the afternoon.

“Tony Howlett, president of Spring, Texas-based Network Security
Services and author of a book on the topic, gave the opening
seminar to a crowd of around 30 people. He described his session as
the Reader’s Digest version of his book, and started out his
session with a warning not to use tools and methods he described on
systems without getting written permission to do so…”
