“To demonstrate how Linux solutions stand to impact enterprise
computing, LINUX Business Expo has partnered with Linux Journal to
present the first annual LINUX Business Expo “Penguin Playoffs”
this November in Las Vegas. The “Penguin Playoffs” will recognize
the best customized business applications developed for the Linux
OS. Winners will be announced by Linus Torvalds in a ceremony
during LINUX Business Expo.”

“The Linux OS is already having a major impact on business
computing. Companies are recognizing that the benefits of using
Linux extend to the bottom line and overall performance of their
companies,” said Phil Hughes, publisher of Linux Journal. “The
Penguin Playoffs, held at LINUX Business Expo – the industry’s
largest event for business professionals looking to incorporate
Linux into their enterprise – are the first awards to legitimize
Linux as a true enterprise solution.”

“Linux Journal will be accepting entries for the competition
until October 4, 1999. Each entry will be evaluated by a panel of 4
judges, consisting of Linux Journal reporters and editors. The week
of November 1st, three finalists will be chosen in each of 4 major
categories: — Best Overall Solution — Best Manufacturing Solution
— Best Office Solution — Best Web Solution.”
