“Oracle Corp…. today expanded its commitment to Linux with the
formation of a new strategic business unit focused on product
development, marketing and support for Oracle’s Linux
initiatives.
Oracle also today unveiled new XML products for
Linux that for the first time unite XML, Java and Linux within a
complete standards-based platform for building and deploying
Internet applications. The new Linux products and business unit are
expected to solidify Oracle’s position as the preferred platform
for Linux developers and customers.”

“Recognizing the growing popularity of XML for Internet
development, Oracle is today making available on Linux its
existing XML infrastructure technologies.
These products
include the Oracle XML Parser, which extracts and converts
application code from four leading development languages (Java, C,
C++ and PL/SQL) into XML format; Oracle’s XML Class Generator; and
Oracle’s XML SQL Utilities and XSQL Servlet, which facilitate the
reading and writing of XML information to and from Oracle
databases.”
