use its patents as weapons against the Linux kernel.

“IBM senior vice president of technology and manufacturing Nick
Donofrio said Linux and open source software development will spark
IT innovation ‘like no other thing in computing has done.’ But he
warned innovation could be stymied if businesses, the IT industry,
educators and government do not create an environment where open
source can thrive…”
