“The four panellists in the Application Development Tools track
at the recent ITJourno Asia Forum generally felt that the
open-source Linux operating system’s long-term ownership cost was
not as cheap as some people would like to believe.

“It may lead to cheaper computing costs though, according to
Nick Jackson, Borland (Singapore) Pte Ltd managing director for
Asean, who said organisations in India would threaten Linux
adoption to twist Microsoft Corp’s arm, hoping that the US software
