“Compaq hopes to allay any concerns [of its Digital customers]
by outlining a ‘deep and wide’ commitment to 64-bit computing,
particularly to Alpha, and to interoperability across the entire
Compaq product line, Koury said.

Last week, for example, Compaq introduced Linux/Tru64 Unix
compatibility in an effort to establish Alpha systems as the
performance leader for Linux operating systems.”

“Compaq also hopes to beef up marketing efforts for its Himilaya
line by touting the nonstop computing technology as a key element
in E-business applications. Compaq will show customers how to
conduct electronic commerce nonstop with Himilayas … will heavily
tout its global capabilities at the conference, in which more than
half of the customer executives in attendance will be from outside
the United States…”
