“Embattled startup Linuxcare Inc. took another hit this week,
confirming that it has laid off an unspecified number of
employees.”
“The acknowledgment, which came Wednesday, marks the latest
pothole to shake the San Francisco-based company, which provides
corporate consulting and technical services for companies that use
the Linux operating system.”
“In April, Linuxcare canceled its $67 million initial public
offering, blaming rocky market conditions and the abrupt
resignation of CEO Fernand Sarrat, a former IBM executive. The
departure of Doug Nassaur, the company’s chief information officer,
followed soon after.”
“Citing the fact that Linuxcare is a private company, a
Linuxcare spokeswoman declined to say how many workers were let go.
She said that word of the employee reductions got out because a
disgruntled ex-employee talked to a reporter.“
