The Register: Linuxcare joins Linux on Itanium project

Troubled Linux services company Linuxcare has joined the
IA-64 Linux Project in the hope that interest in the upcoming Intel
Itanium version of the open source OS will rub off on
itself.

“The IA-64 Linux Project, formerly known as Trillian – named
after a character in Douglas Adams’ Hitch-hikers’ Guide to the
Galaxy that Arthur Dent entirely failed to get off with – is due to
release its 64-bit Linux offering later this year.”

“That process will undoubtedly be accelerated by the “several”
coders Linuxcare will supply. The project team already includers
programmers from Red Hat, Caldera, VA Linux Systems, TurboLinux,
SuSE, SGI, Hewlett-Packard and IBM.”
