“Local open source association, Open Source Victoria (OSV), has
called on Australian state government agencies to join the Federal
Government in adopting the OpenDocument XML file format, saying its
the only way to preserve electronic documents.

“The Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the US recently announced
the adoption of the OpenDocument XML file format as its preferred
method for storing government documents. In doing so, Massachusetts
joined the Australian Federal Government in adopting the Open
Source format for long-term electronic document storage…”
