“More than 10,000 visitors attended the first LinuxWorld 2000
exposition held here last week, the organisers International Data
Group Asia, said.”

“The three day exhibition saw Linux-based solutions from 50
vendors — including Intel, IBM, SGI, Sun, HP and others. Visitors
included developers, IT managers and programmers from the region as
well as the US, Japan, Germany and Britain. The event was held
in conjunction with the second Singapore Linux Conference (SLC),
organised by Linux Users Group Singapore (Lugs)….

“This is the year that Linux takes off,” said SLC organising
chairman Hui Chin Qui, who is also the founder of systems
integrator Webworks Pte Ltd. Webworks installed Linux in 30
companies here last year, primarily in SMEs. Mr Hui expects to see
at least 100 Linux installations here this year.”
