Linus Torvalds, the founder of the Linux operating system, made a surprise announcement on Sept. 16, revealing that he was stepping back from his role as the maintainer for the upcoming Linux 4.19 kernel release.

Torvalds’ decision to temporarily step away from leading the Linux 4.19 kernel release is not about a technical issue, but rather a personal one, dealing with the Linux founder’s behavior. Torvalds has always been known to be have strong opinions on issues and hasn’t always used the most polite language or approaches to communicate.
