“While TonidoPlug is a great personal server as it is,
you can teach it a few neat tricks. For example, how about turning
your TonidoPlug into a fully-fledged server running the MySQL/PHP
stack? There are two ways to do that. Since TonidoPlug is powered
by Ubuntu Linux, you can install the required packages and
configure them yourself. But if this DIY approach is not your cup
of tea, a custom LAMP image for TonidoPlug can do the trick with a
minimum of fuss. While it’s not free, this solution offers a
quick and easy way to convert your TonidoPlug into a LAMP server
complete with a few handy server management tools. Based on Ubuntu
9.04, the custom image comes with the Apache 2 Web server, the
MySQL 5.0.5 database server, and PHP 5.2.6 – all
preconfigured and ready to run without any additional tweaking. In
addition to that the image comes with the excellent Webmin server
management package, the phpMyAdmin tool for managing MySQL
databases, and the Webalizer statistics stacker. The image includes
the Tonido software, too, so you can still use your TonidoPlug as a
Tonido server.

is not particularly difficult, and it requires two things: the
image itself and a USB stick (the larger the capacity, the better).
The first step is to prepare the USB stick. Plug it into your
machine, run the mount command, and note the name of the USB device
(it should be something like sdb1 or similar). Unmount then the USB
stick, and use the following command to format it (replace sdb1
with the actual device name):”
