“Linux kernel developer Linus Torvalds has a message for
Microsoft Corp. executives who hinted that Windows source code may
soon be made available: Talk is cheap.”
“Asked to comment on whether Microsoft would make available
its own Windows source code as some Microsoft executives have
hinted in the past year, Torvalds said: “I’d like to start with
talk is cheap. As a theoretical question, I’d be happy to see more
and more people [releasing] open source code. I am not
convinced that Sun [Microsystems Inc.] community license is a good
license, but it is a step in the right direction. If Microsoft were
to open up [Windows source code], I’d be more than thrilled.”
