After using the Windows 8 interface for about 15 minutes, it was easy to see that I wouldn’t be available to tolerate it. Reverting to Linux was a solution, but the UEFI thing didn’t make it any bit easier. So I downloaded the free VMware player selected “Create New Virtual Machine” from its main menu and specified the .iso file for Ubuntu 12.10 that I downloaded. In short order, I was running Ubuntu 12.10. Installing Linux Mint in a virtual machine was just as easy.
