“The Oscommerce website does indeed sport forums but never did I
ever have to go there to try and figure out what my problem was.
However, I am sure there is an active community that answers
questions for everyone, which is sometimes helpful. It’s nice for a
piece of software to have such nice support, if you ever have the
need for it.“Well, it’s been so long since I installed it, I forgot all the
steps necessary. In fact, I have installed oscommerce on my own
machine for testing purposes and I also recommended it to a friend
of mine, who needs a shopping cart on his website. Over all of the
other shopping carts that I’ve looked at, this one was the one I
recommeded for him. Oscommerce has some deep stuff but the nice
administration interface makes it all accessible in a standard way,
so that it is understandable.“And it works out of the box. No tinkering necessary. I have to
give it one of my highest ratings–the Machineofthemonth
‘Professional’ designation. It really is a professional piece of
work. And best of all, it is open source. The product uses
php/mysql, which may make it unsuitable for some people, if they
don’t have those technologies available on their web hosting plan
but any serious endeavor will require an advanced hosting plan and
thus, php/mysql will be available…”
