“VA Linux Systems Inc. on Tuesday said its fiscal
first-quarter net loss grew but results were better than the
company expected as the once high-flying hardware, software and
services company transforms itself as a collaboration software
vendor.

The company also said it expected fiscal second quarter revenues
to fall further.

For the quarter ended Oct. 27, the software and services
company, which previously focused on the nonproprietary Linux
operating system, reported a net less of $55 million, or $1.04 per
share, compared with a loss of $51 million, or $1.12 a share the
previous year.”
