“Sun Microsystems’ president and chief operating officer has
launched a passionate defence of the tech heavyweight’s decision to
settle a patent lawsuit with Eastman Kodak over Java software with
a licensing deal worth US$92 million.

“Jonathan Schwartz made Sun’s case during a wide-ranging
interview conducted during a flying visit to Australia this week,
in which he also discussed new pricing models, Sun’s perspective of
rivals such as Red Hat and Hewlett-Packard and the impact of
patents on innovation.
