Android-x86 is an open-source project that lets users install and use a variant of Google’s Android mobile OS on their PCs, as Android is yet another operating system powered by the Linux kernel. Android-x86 6.0-r3 is the latest stable release of the OS, adding a bunch of improvements over the previous versions. These include automatic mounting of CD and DVD media, the recently released Mesa 17.0.4 3D Graphics Library, the long-term supported Linux 4.4.62 kernel, which is injected with various AOSP (Android Open Source Project) patches, as well as a brand new qemu-android script that lets users launch Android-x86 in QEMU.
