The current stable release of antiX MX is 15, and it landed on Christmas 2015 based on the Debian GNU/Linux 8.2 “Jessie” operating system, which means that the time has come for the development cycle of antiX MX-16 to start, and the first Beta release arrived for public testing on the first day of November 2016, as noted on the project’s website. Dubbed “Metamorphosis,” antiX MX-16 will be based on the stable Debian GNU/Linux 8.6 “Jessie” operating system, ship with Linux kernel 3.16 for the 32-bit PAE and non-PAE ISO images, as well as Linux kernel 4.7 for 64-bit ISOs targeting modern hardware. As expected, both kernels are fully patched against the “Dirty COW” exploit.
