“Microsoft Corp. contended Tuesday it is in a raging sea of
competition so intense that no antitrust intervention is necessary
to preserve the booming high-tech industry.”

“‘The threat of future competition requires Microsoft to
innovate rapidly, to evangelize, to invest in improvements,’ the
company’s final witness, economist Richard Schmalensee, testified
in Microsoft’s antitrust trial.”
