Coming two weeks after the previous update because of the Easter holidays, Black Lab Linux Weekly 258 is the first to switch to the GNOME 3 desktop environment, leaving Xfce and MATE in the rear view mirror, as alternatives for those who want to use them (you can choose either session directly from the login manager). Another novelty implemented in the Black Lab Linux Weekly 258 ISO snapshot is the use of the Linux 4.8 kernel from the Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS (Xenial Xerus) operating system, which borrows the kernel packages of Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak). The kernel 4.8.0-46 version is used in this release by default.
