The new release of Black Lab Linux Forensic Desktop 6 is based on the current long-term support version of the world’s most popular free operating system, Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) and it is powered by Linux kernel 3.16.0-38, which received several patches for extra hardware support. Ubuntu’s Linux kernel 3.13.0-53, which is the default kernel included with Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, is also available in the Black Lab Linux Forensic Desktop 6 SR4 distribution.
