“Users and analysts say Netscape Communications must release
a compelling Web browser product soon or it will lose out to its
rival, Microsoft Internet Explorer, if it has not already done
so….
“

“Their future is shaky and unless they can really put out a
quality product, a true gem that stands the test of time, they will
lose out to Microsoft,” says Don Eglinski, a long-time user of
Netscape’s browser in Edmonton.”

“According to Saito, the delays have more to do with decisions
that were made by the Mozilla.org team and Netscape coders working
on the browser than with the merger of America Online (AOL) and
Netscape, or problems with the company’s open source strategy, as
some analysts have suggested.”
