The new partnership between Docker and Canonical lets Ubuntu customers take advantage of the official Docker support as well, which users of other GNU/Linux distributions can’t access at the moment of writing this article. As such, new stable releases of the Docker engine will be published and maintained by Docker as Snaps. These Snap packages of Docker will be pushed upstream by Docker for users of the Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) or any other version of the popular operating system that integrates support for installing Snaps, enabling direct access to official build of the Docker app container engine for all Ubuntu users.
