Yes, that’s right, Cinnamon 3.2 will be the drop-in replacement for the current stable release of the acclaimed desktop environment, Cinnamon 3.0, which has been officially shipped today, June 30, 2016, to users of the Linux Mint operating system as part of the Linux Mint 18 “Sarah” announcement. So now that Linux Mint 18 is out, it’s time for the developers of the Ubuntu-based distribution to concentrate all of their efforts on the next major release, Linux Mint 18.1, which will ship with Cinnamon 3.2 and MATE 1.16 desktop environments.
