century is sure to be even better.

“Unfortunately, technology changes so rapidly that it’s
impossible to project years into the future. That’s a job best left
to science-fiction writers and prophets. But with a little
divination, we can give you the impressionist’s-eye view of the
year 2000 in technology.”

“Linux will get mountains of press, including articles in
venerable mainstream newspapers hailing the new era of open source.
But virtually no consumers will use it.”
