“A strong majority of resellers responding to a recent CRN spot
survey said Linux would be a viable alternative to Windows in the
enterprise market within the next 12 months. The results were
similar when CRN asked resellers about the availability of Linux
vs. Windows in the small- and midsize-company market; again, a
substantial majority answered in the affirmative.”

“Resellers agree that two factors-open source code and cheaper
cost-are key selling points for Linux against other operating
systems, according to the results of a recent CRN spot survey.
Fifty-four percent of responding resellers cited one of these two
factors. Another 8 percent said the key selling point for Linux was
that it is a better operating system for the Internet.”

“Half of resellers responding to a recent CRN spot survey on
Linux said their customers’ interest in the free operating system
had either “increased sharply” or “increased modestly” over the
past three months. Only 3 percent of responding resellers said
their customers’ interest in Linux had declined.”
