Based on the latest stable Debian release, namely Debian GNU/Linux 8.6 “Jessie,” the antiX MX-16 operating system is a major release that comes approximately one year after the previous version, antiX MX-15, and promises to offer users a collection of the latest and greatest GNU/Linux technologies and Open Source software applications. Built around the lightweight Xfce 4.12.2 desktop environment, antiX MX-16 includes Linux kernel 4.7.8 for the 64-bit edition and Linux kernel 3.16 LTS (PAE or non-PAE) for the 32-bit flavor, which is recommended for deployment on computers from 10 years ago as the 64-bit one is designed for modern hardware.
