Draft 4 of the joint revision to POSIX and the Single UNIX
Specification is now available from the Austin Group web site at
http://www.opengroup.org/austin.
The Austin Common Standards Revision Group (CSRG) is a joint
technical working group established to consider the matter of a
common revision of ISO/IEC 9945-1, ISO/IEC 9945-2, IEEE Std 1003.1,
IEEE Std 1003.2 and the appropriate parts of the Single UNIX
Specification.
This is the first feature complete draft of the specification.
Concurrent IEEE and ISO balloting will take place on this draft.
Draft 4 totals some ~3600 pages (XSH+XCU+XBD=3308, XRAT=279). New
features in this draft include alignment with the following
- C99
- IEEE Draft Std P1003.1q
There is an eight week review period commencing August 1st and
completing at 8am UK time on Sept 27th. A plenary review meeting is
being held during the week commencing October 9th to process the
comments arising from the Draft 4 review period. Comments should be
sent to the review reflector and use the aardvark comment format
(see http://www.opengroup.org/austin/aardvark/format.html
for more information).
