ExTiX 16.1, which is still dubbed “The Ultimate Linux System,” has been rebased on the Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) operating system and boasts the recently released and long-term supported Linux 4.4 kernel, which has been tweaked by the developer with additional drivers and patches.

However, ExTiX 16.1 also borrows various elements from the Debian GNU/Linux 8.2 (Jessie) operating system, but instead of using Ubuntu’s Unity interface, the developer added the next-generation LXQt 0.10.0 desktop environment, thus making the entire OS more flexible and super lightweight.
