Prominent new features of the Fedora 26 operating system include the GNOME 3.24.2 desktop environment for Fedora Workstation edition, Linux kernel 4.11.8, DNF 2.0 as default package manager, GCC 7 as default compiler, systemd-coredump by default, SSSD fast cache for local users, pkgconf as default system pkg-config implementation, and 48bit VA on AArch64 (ARM64) architectures. Fedora 26 is the first to deprecate the xorg-x11-drv-synaptics driver and to introduce a new Fedora Labs Spin called Python Classroom Lab edition, which is designed for Python teachers and workshop instructors. Fedora 26 also ships with up-to-date components, including but not limited to Python 3.6, OpenSSL 1.1.0, Boost 1.63, Ruby 2.4, GHC 8.0, and Golang 1.8.
